Scherzo Scores is an independent music publisher dedicated to creating the highest-quality pop arrangements for piano and strings. Founded by Dan Edwards - a prize-winning composer and former staff arranger for the orchestra at Buckingham Palace - we bring a wealth of experience and expertise to every score we produce.

Scherzo (pronounced skert-soh) is an Italian musical term that translates to 'joke' or 'jest'.

Our mission

At Scherzo Scores, we aim to craft beautifully designed, meticulously arranged scores that are a joy to play and a delight to hear. We strive to bridge the gap between popular music and classical instrumentation, providing musicians with fresh, exciting material that challenges and inspires.

Crafted by experts

Principal arranger Dan Edwards studied at Trinity College of Music, London - cello with Richard Markson(opens in a new tab), piano with Madelaine Jones and composition with John Ashton Thomas(opens in a new tab). After completing his studies, he joined the Countess of Wessex's String Orchestra(opens in a new tab) as sub-principal cellist, later becoming the Staff Arranger.

In this role, he created many arrangements for performances at investiture ceremonies at Buckingham Palace, state events, and the annual Festival of Remembrance on BBC One.

In 2018, he won the Pianist Magazine composing competition for his piece Brompton Square Waltz(opens in a new tab). Two years later, the National College of Music recognised him with a music theory fellowship. As a pop music producer, he's best known for covering Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights.(opens in a new tab)
